Everest Mountain Overfly from Lukla

The Everest Mountain Overfly from Lukla is built for travellers already in the Khumbu who want a close aerial look at Mount Everest and its neighbouring peaks, without adding a Kathmandu round trip or a full-day itinerary. Starting directly from Lukla, the helicopter carries passengers to Pheriche, then through a close aerial overfly of the Everest region and the Kalapatthar area before flying straight back to Lukla. There is no landing, no walking and no overnight.

The route follows the same operational pattern used across our Everest helicopter tours, without the Kathmandu legs. From Lukla the aircraft climbs out over Namche Bazaar, past the stone terraces of Tengboche and its monastery on the ridge, then drops into Pheriche at around 4,240 metres. Here the valley opens wide and the flight changes shape. The aircraft works up the western flank of the Khumbu, close enough that Everest's summit ridge and ice flutes, the walls of Lhotse and Nuptse, and the pyramid of Ama Dablam arrive one after another in the windows, each one appearing and then gone within seconds. Because of the weight the thin air allows, passengers fly in small numbers, so the aircraft can climb higher and stay longer over the high sections with the group aboard.

After the last rotation the aircraft turns south and climbs directly back to Lukla. There is no landing at Kalapatthar and no stop at Hotel Everest View. It is the fastest, most direct way for travellers already at Lukla to see the high Himalaya up close, in well under an hour.
