Everest Mountain Overfly with Breakfast at HEV from Kathmandu
The Everest Mountain Overfly with Breakfast at HEV from Kathmandu pairs a close aerial view of Mount Everest with a proper sit-down breakfast at the highest hotel in the world, all in a single day. The flight carries passengers from Kathmandu to Lukla, on to Pheriche, and then through a close aerial overfly of the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar area before descending to Hotel Everest View for breakfast and flying home. No landing, no overnight, no trekking.
The route follows the same operational pattern used across our Everest helicopter tours. From Kathmandu the aircraft flies to Lukla, the gateway airstrip of the Khumbu, then on to Pheriche at around 4,240 metres. Here the flight changes shape. The helicopter works up the western flank of the Khumbu, close enough that Everest's summit ridge and ice flutes, the walls of Lhotse and Nuptse, and the pyramid of Ama Dablam arrive one after another in the windows, each one appearing and then gone within seconds. Because of the weight the thin air allows, passengers fly in small numbers across the middle of the morning, so the aircraft can climb higher and stay longer over the high sections with the group aboard.
Once the aircraft has worked its way up and back over the group at Pheriche, everyone flies together down to Hotel Everest View at Syangboche, where a relaxed breakfast of 15 to 20 minutes is served with sweeping views of Everest, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. From there the flight retraces its route through Lukla and back to Kathmandu. Unlike our landing tours, there is no touchdown at Kalapatthar on this itinerary. The Mountain Overfly with Breakfast at HEV is the faster, lighter option: the same high Himalaya views and a proper breakfast stop, without the extra time a Kalapatthar landing adds.
