The Everest Mountain Overfly with Gokyo Lake Landing from Lukla combines a close aerial pass over the Everest region with a landing beside the turquoise waters of Gokyo Lake, giving travellers already in the Khumbu a landing at one of the region's most photographed spots without a Kalapatthar landing or a breakfast stop. Starting directly from Lukla, the helicopter carries passengers to Pheriche, overflies the Everest region, lands at Gokyo, and returns straight to Lukla.

The route follows the same operational pattern used on the Kathmandu-departure version of this tour, without the Kathmandu legs. From Lukla the aircraft flies over Namche Bazaar and past Tengboche Monastery into Pheriche, at around 4,240 metres. Here the flight changes shape. Passengers come up in small numbers, because of the weight the thin air allows, and each group flies the sequence in turn: a close overfly of the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar area with no landing, then on to the Gokyo valley, where the aircraft sets down on the ground beside the water for five to ten minutes. Standing there, the Cho Oyu massif fills one side of the valley and the lakes run out below in shades of blue and turquoise, with the high Khumbu ridges closing the horizon. It is a completely different character from the Kalapatthar stop. Rock and silence up there, water and open space here.

Once everyone has completed the overfly and the Gokyo Lake landing, the group reunites at Pheriche and the helicopter flies straight back to Lukla. There is no landing at Kalapatthar and no breakfast stop at Hotel Everest View on this itinerary. This tour suits travellers already in the Khumbu who want the Gokyo Lake experience as the centrepiece, with the Everest skyline as a close aerial backdrop rather than a second ground landing, all in under two hours.
