About This Flight
The Kathmandu to Jagat helicopter flight is the fastest way to reach the gateway of the Manaslu region, a scenic transfer that replaces a punishing road drive and a two-day trek with a single comfortable hop along the Budhi Gandaki valley. The helicopter takes off from Tribhuvan International Airport, climbs north over the terraced middle hills of Gorkha District, and sets down at Jagat, the stone village at 1,340 metres where the Manaslu Conservation Area formally begins, in roughly 40 minutes. On a round tour you spend an hour exploring the village before returning; on the popular one-way option you start your Manaslu Circuit or Tsum Valley trek the same morning. As every flight is influenced by the weather, the exact duration may vary depending on visibility, wind, air traffic, and the flight route assigned on the day of departure.
The Kathmandu to Jagat helicopter flight exists because the Manaslu region is one of the most remote and strictly protected trekking areas in Nepal. Reaching Jagat overland takes a full day of rough driving past Arughat or Soti Khola followed by hours of trail, while the permit checkpoint at the village gates the entire circuit beyond. A helicopter removes the road entirely: same-day arrival from the capital, permits verified on the spot, and the trek begun from the correct starting point without spending days in transit. For trekkers on the Manaslu Circuit and the Tsum Valley alike, Jagat is the true trailhead, and flying there is the modern way to reach it.
We operate the Manaslu helicopter tour from Kathmandu with the same care and safety standards as every Mountain Helicopters Nepal flight, from the pre-flight briefing to the final landing. The route follows the deep, forested Budhi Gandaki gorge past waterfalls, suspension bridges, and increasingly Tibetan-influenced settlements, with Ganesh Himal and Himal Chuli appearing ahead on clear days. It is especially popular with trekkers starting the Manaslu Circuit, travellers short on time, photographers, and anyone who wants to experience the unspoiled Manaslu region without two days of hard road travel.

Tour Feels Like
Passengers enjoy a comfortable and scenic helicopter flight aboard a modern helicopter operated by experienced professional pilots with years of flying in Nepal's high mountains. The journey is smooth and efficient, combining convenience with some of the most dramatic gorge scenery in the country. Throughout the flight, the pilot ensures a safe and enjoyable experience, allowing travellers to relax and take in the river valley before landing at Jagat.
Shortly after takeoff, the Kathmandu Valley gives way to terraced hills, and soon after, the narrowing gorge of the Budhi Gandaki, where the river thunders below and the forests rise toward the ridges ahead. As the helicopter continues, the first snow peaks draw closer, and the villages along the trade route appear one by one below. While occasional light turbulence may be felt when flying through mountain terrain, this is a normal part of helicopter operations, and flights are conducted only when weather conditions are considered safe.
Upon landing at Jagat, you step out into the stone-paved lanes of a genuine Himalayan gateway village. After safely disembarking under the guidance of the flight crew, you can walk among the mani walls and chortens, meet the local community, and stand at the checkpoint that separates the accessible lowlands from the protected high country before re-boarding for the return to Kathmandu or setting off up the trail.

Health, Safety & Altitude Guidelines
At Jagat, the atmospheric pressure is roughly 86% of sea level, so the air has enough oxygen for most people to walk comfortably without altitude symptoms. Altitude sickness does not become a practical concern in the Manaslu region until well above the village, and the real exposure begins only several days of trekking higher, above roughly 2,500 metres. If you are continuing on the circuit, give your body the same care it would deserve on any high trek.

Questions
Still have questions? Our team is available 7 days a week.
ASK US DIRECTLY→Yes, the flight can be arranged daily, subject to morning weather, landing-site conditions, helicopter availability, and flight permissions. It operates through the spring and autumn seasons with shared departures, and private charters can fly on the date of your choice.
The helicopter departs from Tribhuvan International Airport, with the exact helipad, reporting point, and meeting instructions confirmed before the flight.
Jagat is the gateway village of the Manaslu region, the official permit checkpoint for the Manaslu Conservation Area and the restricted trekking area, and the traditional starting point for the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley treks, known for its stone-paved streets, mani walls, and warm Gurung and Tamang community.
Yes. The one-way option lands you at the trailhead of the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley in a single morning, where our team and guide support you with permits and porter arrangements for the trail ahead.
Flights operate only when conditions are considered suitable for safe operation. If weather, visibility, wind, or other operational conditions are unsuitable, the departure may be delayed or rescheduled.
Let our experienced team create your unforgettable Himalayan journey.
At the airport, please have your passport and any required permits ready for check-in. Any items not required for the flight can be securely stored at your hotel; only a daypack or small trek bag should be carried on board. You will be guided to the helipad area, where our ground team confirms your boarding details.
Boarding procedures include how to board the helicopter, where to stand, how to fasten and unfasten the restraint belt, how to communicate with the crew, and what to do when you hear the crew's instructions.
The helicopter climbs north from Kathmandu, following the Trishuli and then the deep Budhi Gandaki valley through the middle hills of Gorkha District to the gateway village below. Airborne time is normally about 35 to 50 minutes. The actual track and duration may change depending on cloud cover, wind, and air traffic control instructions.
The helicopter sets down at Jagat, 1,340 metres above sea level. After landing, passengers remain seated until the crew confirms that it is safe to leave. You have approximately an hour on a round tour to walk the stone-paved village, see the chortens and mani walls, and meet the locals before re-boarding and returning to Kathmandu.
For one-way passengers, the landing at Jagat is the true start of the adventure: the guide and support team meet you at the village, coordinate the Manaslu Conservation Area and Restricted Area permits, and arrange porter support before the trail continues toward Deng, Namrung, and Samagaun or up the branch to the Tsum Valley. Travellers are advised to allow a reasonable time buffer in their itinerary in case the helicopter arrives later than scheduled due to weather or operational conditions.
Entry to the Manaslu Conservation Area is required from Jagat onward, and the Kathmandu to Jagat helicopter price never includes permit fees. The Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) entry permit and the Restricted Area Permit (RAP) are checked at the Jagat checkpoint, and a Tsum Valley special permit is added if you continue into the hidden valley. The crew will confirm exactly which documents are needed for your plans, and our team can arrange the trekking permits on request.
